Etcera Space

Think it through. Choose what comes next.

Bring something you want to think through. The assistant helps you work with it, from the first conversation to what you learn along the way.

Real work

What you can do with it.

Bring the work in front of you. Think a problem through in conversation, lay out the paths you could take and compare them, draft a plan with the milestones and tasks it needs, keep them on a board and a calendar, and find what you wrote months ago.

You do not have to name an intention before you get help. When one is forming, Etcera keeps the work connected to it.

When it helps

What are you working through?

A decision with several paths.

You want work that leaves more time for family. Staying in your current role, reducing your hours or retraining could each be a path. Explore them as scenarios, compare them side by side and talk through what each could involve before choosing a direction.

Something you want to make happen.

A personal project can begin with an idea and a long list of things to do. Work out a plan, put tasks on a board or calendar, and keep the work connected to why you started.

A question you keep returning to.

Some questions take more than one conversation. Return to a thread when you have something to add, whether you are ready to act or still thinking it through.

How the loop runs

From a thought to what it meant.

A thought finds its shape in conversation. You recognize what it is for, commit when you are ready, act, and look back on what changed. Each pass around the loop leaves you somewhere new, and the next one starts from there.

Capture

Begin where the thought is.

Share a thought, a concern, or something you keep returning to. It does not need to arrive as a clear question.

Clarify

Find the shape of your own meaning.

The assistant helps you explore what matters and find words for it. You can correct its understanding and decide whether a suggestion expresses what you mean.

Recognize

Name what was already forming.

You decide that something meaningful is present, and you name it. Etcera may notice an intention emerging, but it never decides on your behalf that one exists.

Commit

Choose what to carry forward.

When you are ready, you can commit to carrying an intention forward. Explore possible paths and develop the one you choose into goals, milestones, and tasks. You can reconsider how to pursue it as you learn more.

Reflect

Look back and reconsider.

You can look back on what happened and decide what it means to you. Revise a belief, change your approach, or release an intention. Earlier versions remain part of your history without holding you to what you once chose.

Your story, and where you are in it

Your story connects what matters to you over time. Your state reflects where you stand now.

A change of work, for example, may connect to a longer story about what you want to contribute. Etcera connects your thoughts, beliefs, intentions, and actions while preserving how they change. You can revisit why a direction mattered to you, even after choosing another.

Your state brings together the intentions guiding you, the beliefs you hold, and the possibilities you are considering. Etcera builds that reflection from what you have shared and chosen. You can correct its understanding as your circumstances and thinking change, while earlier versions remain part of your history.

That story is yours, and it is the personal layer of something larger. Etcera Gather, still to come, will be AI in service of what you choose to become with others: a place to bring what you choose into shared work. Gather is not available yet. Space is where you can begin today.

The longer argument

Intention Is All It Takes

Read the paper for the longer argument. Today's models often attend to patterns in data, with no intrinsic connection to what a person cares about. Binding a language model and a reasoning module to human intention is what closes that gap.

The loop above is what the paper calls Think, Do, Reflect. It makes the case for that loop, and for why one move answers two problems at once: AI alignment, and human agency. Read it in full, or see what Etcera is for.
